I teach at my home in Haslemere providing lessons to adults and children.

I have taught children using the Piano Safari method for many years.

Piano Safari is a piano method that incorporates the best elements of a range of techniques for teaching children and older students and allows time at the beginning of study to form the fundamentals: reading, rhythm, technique, and artistry, a stage that should not be rushed.

Personalised 1:1 Music Sessions

After a family member was diagnosed with Dementia I became increasingly aware and interested in the power that music has to enhance wellbeing by providing emotional and cognitive benefits. I offer sessions to clients, living with dementia at my home, in their home or care home, either by supporting them to continue to play the piano or by providing Personalised 1:1 music sessions.

I work with the family and client to bring together a collection of music from a client's life from which personalised music sessions are created. This might involve singing, playing the keyboard, engaging with rhythm through use of percussion instruments, listening to music, watching videos from ballet, classical concerts, opera, pop music, musicals etc.

All of these elements aim to promote wellbeing, prompt reminiscence, create connection and leave the client with a feeling of happiness.

Qualifications

I hold the EPTA UK Piano Teachers Certificate and London and Trinity College of Music Performance Diplomas.

Prior to teaching I worked as a solicitor and in Legal Publishing.
