Pammie and Music over the years

In 2018 Pammie's daughter contacted me to ask if I would be able to visit Pammie, at her home, to provide support for her to continue to play the piano.
Pammie lives with Alzheimer's and music has always been a passion. Her daughter hoped a continued connection to music would feed her soul and provide joyous moments during difficult times.
When Pammie moved into a care home in 2023 I continued my visits, twice a week providing 1:1 music sessions. I take a keyboard so I can continue to play live music. The sessions take place in Pammie's room, are private and quiet and allow me to focus on her needs and tailor each session to how I find Pammie on the day.
It is an absolute delight and privilege to spend time with Pammie.
We have a lot of fun communicating through our joint love of music.
In 2021 Pammie was living at home with a full time carer. The sheet music of 'Memory' from Cats is displayed on an iPad. This video is taken 3 years after diagnosis. Pammie is sight reading the music.

Pammie connects with the music in different ways; watching videos, using percussion instruments, singing or relaxing.
Pammie's skill at following rhythms and a pulse is amazing and it is wonderful to see her remembering words to familiar songs.

Pammie loves Frank Sinatra and we use the whole spectrum of music available. Videos, clips of concerts, playing songs on the keyboard, singing or using percussion instruments.
